California Wage-and-Hour Class Action Settled by Walmart

Walmart settled a California class-action lawsuit on Wednesday, May 12, that alleged that the giant corporation failed to pay various wage claims that were due to workers who had left the company. Karen Gullo of Bloomberg.com has this report:

The former workers claimed that, after they left the company, Wal-Mart didn’t pay them their holiday or overtime wages or failed to pay the earnings within the time specified by state law, according to a 2006 complaint filed in federal court in Oakland, California.

The total settlement reached for the 232,000 employees involved in the claim was as much as 86 million dollars.
