5 Things To Do To Have A Fun And Safe Time at an Amusement Park
It’s that time of year again! Summer is just around the corner and families all over Florida are gassing up their vehicles and heading out to one of our many amusement parks. Though your day of fun in the sun should go off without a hitch there are a few things you can do to help guarantee that “Perfect Day”.
- Drink plenty of Water
- Florida is HOT and when you and your family are having a great time at an amusement park usually the last thing on your minds is staying hydrated. Don’t let a case of dehydration ruin your day of fun and sun. A great way to remind yourself of drinking plenty of fluids is to set a timer on your smart phone for every 30 minutes. Be careful with alcohol also, remember any alcoholic drinks you consume do NOT help with your hydration.
- Plan The Day Ahead of Time.
- Planning is the best tool a parent has at an amusement park. Make sure to look at maps of the park and try to plan out your time at the amusement park the day before. Look at things like where the fast rides are and where you will be taking the family to eat. No one wants to deal with the consequences of eating a greasy triple cheeseburger and then trying to ride a roller coaster.
- Discuss what to do in case of an emergency.
- While you’re planning your activities at the park, it’s also a great time to talk to your family about what to do in case of an emergency at the park. Look for the parks alternate fire exits and decide on a singular place where everyone can meet if the park evacuates. This also works as a great place to meet up if someone gets lost!
- Know where the First Aid stations are.
- If you or a loved one begins feeling dizzy, tired, numb, or generally “off kilter” it’s time to take a break. If these feelings don’t go away within a few minutes it’s time to go see the First Aid center. Don’t let your family’s excitement for the day cause you to prolong treatment.
- Make sure to follow all of the posted rules.
- Ride Rules & Regulations are there for a reason. Don’t let your child try to “sneak” onto a ride that they are not tall enough for. Ride height regulations are there to keep you safe. Now if you have followed the posted rules and someone in your party is still injured, make sure to document as much as you can. Take pictures and gather witnesses’ information. Most amusement park accidents are actually caused by the lack of adherence to local and federal regulations.
Of course, the number one thing to remember is HAVE FUN WITH YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS! You only get these moments once, enjoy them!
