When you buy a product for the sole purpose of keeping your loved ones safe around your pool, it would be disheartening to find out that the product itself could pose the biggest drowning risk, but a current a recall for safety pool covers made by Anchor Industries is doing just that. The specific recall involves their mesh and solid-material Anchor 5-Star, Anchor Mesh, Classic Solid and Defender Mesh.

The failure in theses covers actually comes from the anchors used to hold the covers in place. There have been 20 reported anchor failures so far. No injuries have been reported from these incidents but the nature of the failure creates a drowning risk.

The fix is simple and only involves replacing the anchors, but it should remind us all that it’s imperative that we perform safety checks around our homes. Here in Florida safety equipment ages due to the salty air & hot summers. That mesh pool fence may have been fine last year but have you really checked to make sure it’s still strong enough to hold back your kid this year? If you haven’t, it’s time to.

Keeping our families and friends safe is of paramount importance to us here at PERENICH The Law Firm. Preemptive safety checks are one of the best things you can do to insure your family’s safety this summer. Don’t wait, it’s worth your time.
