Child Car Seat Safety Law Video
OLD LAW ON Car Seat Safety:
Infants: Infants must ride in a rear-facing child restraint system until they are at least 1 year old and weight at least 20 pounds. The car seat should sit semi-upright at an angle of no more than 45 degrees.
1 – 3 Years Old: Once a child reaches the rear facing recommendations set by the state, you still must place any child under 3 in a car seat or vehicle manufacturer’s integrated child safety seat. You should always place child safety seats in the back seat.
4+ Years Old: No requirements other than be seat belted with a regular restraint.
2015 Updated Law:
Infant to 3 years old stayed the same.
4 – 5 Years Old: Beginning January 1, children ages 4 and 5 will be required to sit in a child safety seat or a booster seat rather than only being buckled in a seatbelt.
